I'm not talking about flirting with other men, or men who are obsessive or controlling. I'm just wondering why some guys get jealous when other men approach and talk to their girlfriends. I mean, how far could a guy get by just chatting?Why do some guys become jealous when they see their girlfriends talking to other men?
Some guys can get pretty far by starting off chatting. It isn't nice to generalize all men, but I would say that some men have been cheated on before or they just have self-esteem issues... or he could just really not like the other man. If you are in a relationship with someone who micromanages your day - take a minute to think of whether he is really worth the arguments you are going to have in the future until he trusts you. If you don't want the struggle, move on, but if you really think he is ';the one'; then you will probably have to help him through his insecurities. While you are thinking about him, think long and hard about your intentions of talking to other men... do you like or crave male attention? If so he may have reason to be jealous because your insecurities may allow you to do something with a man that you will both regret just to fulfill your needs. If you feel it is nothing more than chatting, and not for the attention, then find a way to get the boyfriend to talk about why it bothers him. Why do some guys become jealous when they see their girlfriends talking to other men?
It all boils down to how much self confidence he has and how much he trusts you. It's human nature for both men and women to become jealous to a certain extent. Biologically, we compete with other men to ensure that our genes get passed on, so it makes sense to become jealous. Believe it or not, women are the ones that usually get way more jealous than men.
By the way, every time a guy that doesn't know you and approaches to have small talk with you, he wants to get in your pants. Period.
i dont know but that is how my husband is i just tell him oh ok i remember that so when you are talking to a girl then i will just stop you k he just gets pissed off and i am like ok what ever loser i mean i just think that they are trying to show off or something i would just tell him hey you are just going to have to stop that

i suspect it's hard-wired into us by evolution. thousands of years ago, there were less people and therefore less woman available for mating.

today there are plenty of options for males but the gene that apparently triggers this feeling we call ';jealousy'; hasn't gone dormant yet...so, when we see our girlfriend chatting with another male, it triggers this out-of-date competitive instinct...
personally, i have been able to purge this instinctive reaction from my emotional make up....I don't mind sharing... ;)

goos question. i am a guy and i experience some of this. its just common courtisy not to chat with a nother mans girl i guess. do on to others as ud have done to you. i just keep reminding my self that she has a great man that would be veeery hard to top so i have nothing to worry about. but what worrys me is that if she ever decided to try out another guy and realize she screwed up, i wouldnt take her back, or it would be very hard to. its being greedy like on her part to leave a good relationship just to try something else. or in my case, shes at school an hour away and im home and if she gets drunked up and dose something with another man....thatd be the worse. we all know we do dumb things when we're drunk.
With all the cheating in the world, I can't blame a man for being skeptical. Men and women are very snaeky and a conversation could do a lot of damage, especially if he's a talker like myself.

I was lucky enough to go to a film screening of "Miss Representation" on Thursday night. I had seen the trailer and the extended trailer, and had also read lots of great posts and reviews of the film, so I was excited to finally see it in its entirety. I went with some of the women from the eating disorder support group I lead and the consensus was that it is an important film.It touches on a variety of topics, from body image and eating disorders to violence against women to sexualization of women. The negative media onslaught is something of which I have long been aware, but to see the plethora of examples "Miss Representation" shows, it really got me fired up anew.I don't think I was alone in my thoughts and feelings of the film. One of the women with whom I saw the film said poignantly, "There was a point at which the film was discussing eating disorders and I started to feel isolated and almost ashamed like I would have if I were alone in the past...and then I realized I was sitting amongst three extremely intelligent, successful, and beautiful women who had either gone through or are still struggling with what I do and it made me feel really proud." I find her statement to be extremely self-aware. I also love that the film - coupled with the experience of watching it with other, similar women - transformed her shame into pride in a matter of moments. That's what solidarity can do, and solidarity was certainly a theme of the film.I was somewhat annoyed when I heard male snickering from the audience at points during "Miss Representation" that were NOT meant to generate laughter, such as sexual images of women clearly being exploited or clips of men sickeningly taking advantage of women. I think it showed how true it is that "we live in a society of teenage boys," as Carol Jenkins says in the film. To really understand what is meant by that quote, you have to see the film itself, as there is clearly nothing wrong with being a teenage boy, nor am I inferring that good mean don't exist.Another important quote from the film: "The more power a woman gains, the more backlash she receives." It's true. Think about it for a few seconds. Think Hilary Clinton, Sarah Palin, etc etc etc etc. It doesn't matter what your political affiliation - the misrepresentation of women in the media is a big deal. I also thought, for the most part, that the film did a great job with keeping the film bipartisan. Both Nancy Pelosi and Condoleezza Rice, for example, are interviewed in the course of the film, highlighting that this is a women's issue, not a political issue. There is enough woman-hating out there without women doing it to each other, and the film did a good job of focusing on women as a sisterhood instead of pitting women against each other. I recently found out that my now ex-Fiance has been cheating on me for the last 2 months with 2 other women. One I know for sure that he is sleeping with but the other one all I know for sure is kissing and touchy/feely things. We have recently(past 3 months as we were trying to start a family) started having unprotected sex. I don't know if he is doing that with the other women also but I am going to get checked. The one he is doing the touchy/feely things with is his ex-gf who hates me and has tried to cause problems in our relationship in the past so I know she could care less. Last week I was lucky enough to interview stylist, author, TV presenter and all-round national treasure Gok Wan. Yes, I've been bleating on about this on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook since the day itself - I've "finally "got it written up and on the blog!
There was so much chat and interesting stuff we spoke about that I've had to split it into two parts rather than cutting it down too drastically into one... and believe me, I've already cut it down a lot.
Along with four other bloggers, I was invited by Activia UK as a VIP to their Feel Good From Within campaign event in Westfield, London where Gok was making a special appearance and did a meet-and-greet with the public. The four of us were given the chance to interview him (we also got to eat a "lot "of yoghurt).
Everyone had the chance to have their photo taken with Gok holding up their board declaring what makes them "Feel Good From Within" - as you can see from the photo mine was connected to my best features post and my newly-launched Accentuate the Positive Project on Facebook, so it tied in really nicely... Activia's feel good message is actually very similar to mine.
Activia had originally offered us 15 minutes each with Gok (which would have been brilliant), but the man himself asked us if we'd prefer to all go in together, and I'm sure the girls would agree with me when I say that this was 100 times better. We had an hour with him in the end - which resulted in a lot of talking, a lot of laughing, and us finding out that yes, he is as warm, funny and honest as he seems on TV. I was a lucky girl to have been asked to take part...!

CATHERINE: WHAT'S THE MOST COMMON QUESTION YOU'RE ASKED IN INTERVIEWS?
GOK: It used to be "Do you look good naked. "The second thing is "What part of your body do you not like". In interviews I get asked negative questions, because I've never done the negative. I never tell people the bad stuff, and I never criticize, and I only give information when they ask me. So a lot of journalists like the idea of turning that on its head, and of course I never did. So it tends to be something negative, and I always twist it around.
DANNII: SO WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE ABOUT YOURSELF?
GOK: Probably my lips, I like my lips.
LAURA: YOU FAMOUSLY LOST WEIGHT FROM WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER. A LOT OF PEOPLE STRUGGLE WITH MAINTENANCE - IS THAT SOMETHING YOU'VE EVER STRUGGLED WITH?
GOK: Yes, always. I think that when you've been either obese, or morbidly obese, then you always have to maintain. We've done so much research to work out "Are you prone to be fat, Can you be fat", and the problem is, it's not necessarily that your body should be more fat than anyone else's, but it's just that you can probably accommodate more food than most people, and that you can exercise less, and your hunger becomes a massive feature in your life. So in that way you are more prone to being bigger, so I have to keep that in check. And I do, I gained two stone last year, and then I've lost it this year, so my weight's constantly up and down.
"I DON'T LOSE WEIGHT FOR VANITY'S SAKE, IT'S ABOUT MY HEALTH AND WELL BEING"I don't necessarily lose weight for vanity's sake, it's more about my health and well being. And I know that when I'm heavier, I don't feel as healthy, I can't go as fast with work, it slows me down slightly. I think we always do (anybody with any kind of eating disorder).
CATHERINE: MY THEORY IS THAT EVERYBODY HAS THEIR OWN IDEAL SHAPE AND SIZE - IF YOU'RE EATING HEALTHILY AND DOING SOME EXERCISE YOU WILL JUST END UP THE NATURAL SHAPE AND SIZE YOU'RE MEANT TO BE.
GOK: I think that sometimes we don't register as well that all our skeletons are the same, pretty much - it's the muscle mass and the fat mass and genetically what's attached to that. I'm prone to carry weight around my tummy, and prone to be very skinny on my shoulders and very skinny on my legs but I'm not the same as everybody else. What we are fools to try and do is look like everybody else. And if you think about how many models there are in the world and we do the maths against the general public, that's one in 44 million of us that look like that.

TAMSIN: WHAT ADVICE WOULD GIVE TO A YOUNG GIRL OF 14 OR 15 IF THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SELF-ESTEEM? I READ IN THE NEWS YESTERDAY THAT 14 YEAR OLDS ARE AT THEIR MOST VULNERABLE AND FEEL WORST ABOUT SCHOOL AND THEIR BODY IMAGE.
GOK: It's about having a healthy perspective. I know that if you were to teach kids politics very young or you were to teach them about far more social issues, that those kids would develop ideas of their own. And those kids probably would turn round and say "I don't believe in what I'm reading, I don't believe in what I'm seeing right now." But it's giving them an opportunity to develop that opinion, because you know when something is bad, you know when something is really unhealthy, and a lot of the kids that we work with all come up and say "I believe in what you're saying, I like being individual, I like being unique, I don't mind standing out."
TAMSIN: WE NOTICED THERE THAT WERE A LOT OF YOUNGER KIDS TODAY WHO MADE THE EFFORT TO QUEUE AND THAT WAS REALLY OBVIOUS THAT IT MEANT A LOT TO THEM.
GOK: These kids are really bright, they're very clever, because the kind of young - and I hate this word but there's no better way of describing it - fanbase, or loyal viewer that I've got tends to be the geeky kids, the kids that stand out, the kids that are a little bit more unique, that don't fit into the mould.
"THE YOUNG FANBASE I'VE GOT TENDS TO BE KIDS THAT DON'T FIT INTO THE MOULD"These kids are really bright because they're turning round and saying, "I don't believe in this philosophy that I'm being taught. "So I would say to a 14/15 year old: "Develop your own opinion, truly believe in what you know is right and wrong, and argue it"! If someone tells you, "This is the right thing to do" and you don't believe in it, stand by your guns and inform your own politics. As long as you feel committed and you invest in that I think that you'll come up with the right thing.
CATHERINE: ON THE FLIP SIDE TO THAT, I'M A 40+ BLOGGER, AND THERE SEEMS TO BE THIS "THING" ABOUT THE AGE OF 40 THAT WOMEN GET TO AND THEY THINK, "OH RIGHT THAT'S IT, I HAVE TO START DRESSING LIKE A FRUMP"! MY MESSAGE IS JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE TURNED 40 OVERNIGHT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN'T WEAR THE THINGS YOU LIKE AND THAT SUIT YOU. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS A KEY MESSAGE TO WOMEN WHO WORRY ABOUT THEIR AGE AND THEIR SELF ESTEEM?
GOK: The research that we've done - women in their 40s, 50s, 60s plus - a lot of them have had children, a lot of them have had at least one relationship, a lot of them are out of a relationship, they've had homes, they've got jobs, they've started careers. They suddenly get to this age in their life and they're going, "F
- who am I, I've been so many different people for the past 40 years". I call it the "second puberty". Women go through this stage of having a second puberty, where all of a sudden you have to get to know yourself again.
If we talk about style in a broader term: personal branding, how you represent yourself, how you tell people a story - you give your narrative out to people. Now if you have been a mum, and a partner, and a clerk, and a home keeper for all those years and all of a sudden you have to find that person, that is when you turn round and say "Right, all of a sudden I've got rules in my life, I'm not allowed to look this way, I'm not allowed to have my hemline up, I've got to have my hair cut short". That stuff isn't a social thing, it's a personal thing, because it's where you feel that you should fit in. A lot of those ideals have been created from things like films and TV - films and TV predominantly are fairy tales, they aren't even real, and it's when a director or costume designer is creating these images we look at. A lot of it came from the theatre, even before we had television.
So if you think about it like that, I would say to any woman above 40: Stop trying to be a character of what you think you should be, and be the person that you want to be.
"TO ANY WOMAN ABOVE 40: STOP TRYING TO BE A CHARACTER OF WHAT YOU THINK YOU SHOULD BE, AND BE THE PERSON THAT YOU WANT TO BE"Because if you've worked very hard to get to this stage where all of a sudden you've got your first disposable income in 40 years, if you've found a confidence with what you've created for 40 years, then you must have the confidence in your own personal branding. And whatever that message is, whether you enjoy frumpy clothes (I quite like frumpy clothes - my mum looks incredible and she's the biggest frump out there!) - or whether you want to dress head-to-toe in Topshop or you want to be a dominatrix, it doesn't matter.
Whatever you want to be is absolutely fine, as long as you stay committed to your own personal branding. And it mustn't ever be the dream of somebody else - a director, or a costume designer, or a magazine, or whoever.
"STAY COMMITTED TO YOUR OWN PERSONAL BRANDING"LAURA: WHENEVER I TELL PEOPLE THAT I'M GOING TO MEET YOU, THERE'S NEVER A NEGATIVE WORD ABOUT YOU - EVERYONE LOVES YOU - THEN WHEN WE MEET YOU YOU'RE JUST AS YOU COME ACROSS ON TV. HOW DO YOU FIND STAYING TRUE TO YOURSELF AND YOUR PERSONAL BRANDING?
GOK: I don't sit around with my friends in my chair and go, Right, this is my opinion - it's far more conversational, and at home of course it is. I've never wanted to be anything different on television, and when I first went on television, I had a massive argument with a TV exec who wanted me to slag a bird off, basically... And I said to myself when I walked out that audition (because I could have had that job, it was a huge job* and I decided that I didn't want it) I didn't want to be someone I wasn't, and I remembered that moment in my career. And whenever I get into a position when I'm doing something that I don't particularly agree with, or it doesn't feel right, I just make sure that I turn round and say, "Do you actually believe this," and I think that everyone should stay true to that as well. It's an instinctual thing as well. Currently, Barack Obama has a lead over John McCain in the race for the Presidency. A recent Wall Street Journal story shows that this lead is entirely due to Working Class White Women. Concerns over the economy, and a negative image of Sarah Palin, produced by the Media, as "lower class" have convinced Working Class White women to vote for Obama. For the moment.
However, lingering concerns about Affirmative Action and it's unfairness, remain, and WILL poison Obama's chances of governing, should he win the Presidency as expected. A very strong backlash potential exists, for Obama and the Democrats, and victory paradoxically could produce their doom.
Obama's wavering margin of victory rests on voters like Marla Hightower, of Kokomo Indiana.
"I feel like a white female or a white male has fewer opportunities than the black man or the black woman because of all the special treatment and special programs they have gotten," said Marla Hightower. "If Obama is elected, what's going to happen?"
This concern is real because under the Affirmative Action regime, Whites ARE discriminated against, and because of demographics, are constantly declining in both absolute and relative numbers. Fewer White children relative to Hispanic (or really, that of Mexican Immigrants, both legal and mostly, illegal) children are born each year, and of course the wave of illegal immigration brings millions of new, mostly Mexican people inside the United States every year. Fewer Whites in both absolute and relative numbers means each White person bears more pain, in lost opportunities and overt discrimination.
It's worth noting that Affirmative Action has never existed in the West, in either the US or Europe, during a prolonged recession or depression. Indeed, the history of lingering depressions suggests ugly racial strife, as desperate men and women try to hold onto jobs in a labor market flooded with people willing to work for anything. The AFL worked hard during the Depression to exclude Blacks from the railroads, and the Roosevelt Administration, dependent on White labor support, did not object. Affirmative Action with a rapidly expanding economy, and an overwhelmingly White populace, is radically different from hard times where people are desperate for work, and to hang onto their jobs.
It is absolutely true that Affirmative Action discriminates against middle and working class Whites, to benefit Blacks and Hispanics (who are, practically speaking, Mexican origin). This discrimination has been held Constitutional, but has never been politically tested during a lingering recession/depression.
When, not if, White Working Class women get the "first fired, last hired" treatment during hard times, they will turn on him with a fury. Now, they may not be able to vote him out of office, right away, but they can vote out Democrats for Republicans in the next Congressional election cycle, two years from now. This treatment is inevitable, because Obama has no experience in balancing the competing interests of Working Class Whites, with that of the radical, grievance-based Black Nationalists and Yuppie White radicals that make up his electoral base. Even more importantly, neither does his team. Figures such as David Axelrod, Samantha Power, William Ayers, and John Lewis have no experience leading winning coalitions of the majority White Working-Middle Class. Let alone leading them during hard times.

"The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."
Telling Working Class White women, after the election, that they will have to give up their piece of the pie so someone else can have more, is not going to be winning governing politics. Particularly during hard times.
The Obama electoral coalition is fragile. It is based, mostly, on Blacks, Hispanics, White Yuppies, College kids, and Working Class White women. The latter have serious doubts about Obama, but lack confidence in McCain's ability to manage the economy. Obama's coalition, and that of the Democrats, could come crashing down. The WSJ story notes that Working Class White Men still support McCain, 58% to 34%, unchanged despite the economic meltdown. Working Class White Men don't like Obama, which is unsurprising given that Dems are organized against them, in political agendas. Particularly Affirmative Action.
A continued economic downturn could provoke massive political fights, as Working Class White Women turn on Obama and Democrats, in alliance with Working Class White Men. Affirmative Action demands that Whites get fired first, in layoffs. Obama and the Democrats, particularly if they win big victories, will be expected to "fix" things. Layoffs of Whites first at factories and other employers, to protect Black and Hispanic jobs, will create only enemies.
Obama's strategic weakness is that he and the Democrats have depended on patronage, in Black and Hispanic communities and organizations, and have not successfully promoted various goodies and handouts to the White working (and middle) class. Who still form the demographic majority of the nation. Neither Obama or Dems have the experience to manage shrinking revenues, in an extended recession, much less avoid punishing the majority White population.
Indeed, Obama's political career, plagued by doubts among Blacks that he is "Black enough," and resulting in the decades long embrace of Jeremiah Wright, Trinity United, Louis Farrakhan, and other anti-White Black Nationalists/Separatists, particularly in regards to the money doled out to Black Nationalist and Separatists during the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, as documented by Stanley Kurz, in the National Review, shows an inability to abandon radical, anti-White politics even when it is to his advantage.
The one point in Obama's career, when he had millions of dollars of money to dole out, shows he chose radical, angry, Black Nationalist/Separatist groups promoting grievance studies and anti-White sentiment.
Obama's ability to govern the United States, during hard times, is not encouraging. If anyone thought the Bush Administration's fights with the Left over Iraq and Afghanistan was going to be a fun time, just wait until White workers are fired first.
