Last updated; Thursday, September 2, 1999, 7:00 AM Amarillo Rex L. Kirby Rex L. Kirby, 69, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Regi Fowler of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Burial with additional services will be at a later date in Mooreland Cemetery at Mooreland, Ind. Mr. Kirby was born in Hagerstown, Ind. He graduated from Mooreland High School and attended Ball State University for three years. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner/operator of Rex Kirby Lawn Service. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Lou Koontz of Mooreland and Peggy Sue Rednour of Shirley, Ind.; and three brothers, Ted C. Kirby and Dana E. Kirby, both of Greenfield, Ind., and Michael A. Kirby of Mooreland. Josie Belle Merrill Josie Belle Merrill, 96, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dublin Live Oak Cemetery in Dublin with the Rev. David Leach of the United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle of Amarillo and Harrell Funeral Home of Dublin. Mrs. Merrill was born near Dublin. She was a graduate of Dublin High School, Tarleton State University and Baylor University. She taught school in Tolar, Glen Rose and Midlothian. Mrs. Merrill was a member of Women's Society of Christian Service at Matthew's Memorial Methodist in Fort Worth and the First United Methodist Church in Midlothian. She also was a member of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth, Ladies of the Leaf, Daughters of the American Revolution in Waxahachie and St. Paul's Home Demonstration Club. She married Louise P. Merrill in 1927 at Stephenville. They lived in Tolar, Tyler, Fort Worth and at their ranch near Glenrose. Later, they retired to their ranch near Midlothian. In 1986, her husband died and she moved to Amarillo. Survivors include a son, John L. Merrill Sr. of Crowley; a daughter, Marilyn Kenyon of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Jesse A. Guillen Jesse A. Guillen, 57, of Dallas, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage, with Hector Gallegos, deacon, officiating. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Hector Madrigal officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Guillen was born in Amarillo where he lived for most of his life before moving to Dallas. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Julia of Dallas; two daughters, Alice Guillen and Elaine Martinez, both of Dallas; a son, George Guillen of Dallas; his mother, Juanita Guillen of Amarillo; a sister, Rosa Stone of Amarillo; two brothers, Raymond and Cruz Guillen, both of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. John L. Krizan John L. Krizan, 57, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Glen Walton of Bell Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave. Mr. Krizan was born in Amarillo where he was a lifelong resident. A Navy veteran, he was a truck driver and a Baptist. Survivors include his mother, Maggie Katherine Krizan of Amarillo; a brother, Charles E. Krizan of Amarillo; a halfbrother, H. Wade Krizan of San Antonio; a sister, Kay Nelson of Amarillo; and a half-sister, LaJauana Bustamonte of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Disabled Veterans, 3913 W. Sixth, Amarillo, TX 79106. Canyon Jason Gary Bouyea Jason Gary Bouyea, 18, of Canyon, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, Amarillo, with Pastor David Treybig officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Bouyea was born in Amarillo and had lived in Canyon the past three years. He attended Randall High School and was a grocery clerk at V&M Discount store. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Donna and Mike Morgan of Canyon; his father, John Bouyea of Amarillo; a sister, Lisa Michelle Bouyea of Canyon; a stepbrother, Mike Morgan of Joinerville; two stepsisters, Amanda Trevino and Tiffany Morgan, both of Lubbock; grandparents, Frances Bouyea of Amarillo, Bobby and Sarah Lovelady of Montrose, Colo., Bobby and Chris Hill of Oklahoma City, Mike Morgan of Houston and Jo Allen of Lubbock. The family requests memorials be to the Jason Bouyea Stop the Violence Memorial Fund, Amarillo National Bank, Account No. 21009162, P.O. Box 1, Amarillo, TX 79105. Flora L. Phillips Flora L. Phillips, 88, of Canyon, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Childress Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Hill and the Rev. Johnny Robertson officiating. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. in First Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Richard Bales of the church officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home of Childress. Mrs. Phillips was born in Childress and had lived in Canyon since 1953. She graduated from West Texas State University, then taught for 11 years in Canyon, 7 years in Carey and 10 years with Panhandle Education Service Organization. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Canyon Classroom Teachers, Sue Hite Study Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Zeta Tau Alpha, United Methodist Women, First United Methodist Church of Canyon and several Canyon bridge clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Phillips, in 1953. Survivors include a son, Bobby Phillips of Granbury; two sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Bennett and LaJuana Thaten, both of Childress; four brothers, Robert Jones, Rayford Jones, Joe Jones and Pete Jones, all of Childress; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church of Canyon Building Fund or the American Cancer Society. New Mexico Ruby M. Heglin CLOVIS, N.M. - Ruby M. Heglin, 82, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Pleasant, N.M. Mrs. Heglin was born in Curry County. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Friendship Rebekah Lodge 21 and Eagles Auxiliary. She married Arthur Vern Heglin in 1940 at Clovis. He died in 1988. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Ida Jean Robison in 1993. Survivors include a son-in-law, Ken Robison of Clovis; four grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren. Sarah Renee Upton CLOVIS, N.M. - Sarah Renee Upton, 14, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Cannon Air Force Base Chapel with Al Pineault, chaplain, officiating. Arrangements and cremation will be by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Miss Upton was born in Las Vegas. She was a ninth grade student at Gattis Junior High School where she was in choir. Survivors include her parents, Sam and Renee Upton of Clovis; a sister, Amanda Marie Upton of Clovis; and her grandmothers, Aysche Lenz of Clovis and Eleonore Norman of Colorado Springs, Colo. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Chris Alan Henson TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Chris Alan Henson, 50, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Center Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Seymore, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Henson was born in Monte Vista, Colo., and had been a longtime resident of Tucumcari where he was a farmer. He was an active member of the Center Street United Methodist Church and a member of its board of trustees. He was fire chief for the Rural 2 Fire Department and chairman of the Agriculture Experiment Station Advisory Board. Survivors include his wife, Gail of Tucumcari; two sons, Schan Henson and Shane Henson, both of Amarillo; his parents, U.V. and Mary Lou Henson of Tucumcari; and two brothers, Jerry Henson of Garden City, Kan., and Verl Henson of Del Norte, Colo. Visitation will be at the funeral home from this morning until time of services Friday. The family suggests memorials be to Center Street United Methodist Church Hand Bell Choir in his memory. Elsewhere Dale Earl Martin Sr. BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Dale Earl Martin Sr., 60, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999. Services will be at noon today in Rundus Funeral Home Chapel in Broomfield. Burial will be in Louisville Cemetery. Mr. Martin was born in Shamrock, Texas and attended West Texas State University and Baptist Bible College in Plainview, Texas. During the 1960s, he owned and operated a business that raised show horses. He then managed and owned several restaurants and lounges and incorporated a halfway house. In 1970, he became a certified Baptist minister. Survivors include four daughters, Shelly Martin and Penny Martin-Enfield, both of Broomfield, Berkley Smith of Clearlake, Texas and Kimberly Boatwright of Katy, Texas; a son, Dale Martin Jr. of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
