This month, we've got a cracking shopping list lined up for you as the Geeky Girls' have hunted and found a few gems on the interweb. From Fringe and Harry Potter goodies to a classic comic book and an awesome real-life recreation of a classic movie motor, how could you not read on?
MOST WANTED DVD: FRINGE SEASON 3 ON BLU-RAY
There's no denying the awesomeness of the third season of Fringe, in which we plunged further down the rabbit-hole with Olivia, Peter (swoon) and crazy Walter. The Fringe team escaped from the parallel universe - except for Olivia, who was trapped in the other world and replaced in ours by her double who turned Peter and Olivia's tentative relationship into full-blown love affair. Ever more bizarre and terrifying phenomena occurred and secrets that stretched back to 1985 threatened to destroy our universe. Or theirs. Phew! The Blu-ray edition comes with a big bundle of awesome extras including Four featurettes exploring The Other You, Visualizing an Alternate World, A Machine of Destiny and The Psychology of Duality - and the obligatory gag reel. It's a must for our DVD shelf. BUY IT: lb36.99 from Amazon
MOST WANTED BOOK: HARRY POTTER PAGE TO SCREENPacked with spellbinding details and hundreds of never-before-seen photographs and illustrations, this lavishly illustrated tome provides an insightful, in-depth look at the inner workings of the world of Harry Potter as told by the Muggles who made the magic real. A must for fans of the movies, the book unravels some of the films' most peculiar mysteries, such as how Harry's Invisibility Cloak became visible, which ingredients were used to make Polyjuice Potion a reality, which mythical creature required the most make-up, and why the Sorting Hat failed miserably as a puppet, while also addressing some of the broader issues surrounding the set, including the impact of Richard Harris's death on the cast and crew, and the young stars' thoughts on growing up on a public stage.BUY IT: lb31.49 from Amazon
MOST WANTED BLING: SUPERHERO COMIC BOOK POW! NECKLACEWe do love a good bit of kitch here at GGSF HQ, so it's no wonder that this comic book inspired necklace caught our eye - and it could even come in the form of a bracelet if you ask nicely enough. It's limited edition, so we've made sure to order our own before pimping it out to you lot. We wouldn't want to miss out. BUY IT: for lb11.99 from Kawaii Boutique
MOST WANTED GEEK-SHIRT: THIS IS NOT MY TIME MACHINE T-SHIRTDoctor Who fans may remember our shout out for Threadless' awesome Doctor Who-themed T-shirt a couple of months back, but now the US casual wear company have gone one better, with a mash up of two of our favourite sci-fi icons. Imagine if Bill and Ted ended up in the Tardis! Or, better yet, just think what could have happened if the Doctor had been along for the ride on the pair's Bogus Journey. This is, by far, the most excellent of excellent ideas. A crossover MUST happen. BUY IT: for just lb6.49(ish) from Threadless.
MOST WANTED COMIC: X-MEN BY CHRIS CLAREMONT AND JIM LEE OMNIBUS - VOLUME 1 What happens when you combine an industry veteran at the top of his game with a hot, up-and-coming young artist, and let them loose on Marvel's mightiest mutants? You get a fan-favourite, multi-year X-Men run unequalled in style, pizzazz and wall-to-wall action! It's Chris Claremont's most ambitious story arc ever, featuring Jim Lee's dynamic debut issues and major changes to the X-Men's status quo! The story sees Jubilee debut just as the X-Men disband, granted new lives by the Siege Perilous. The Reavers enact gruesome revenge on Wolverine and decimate Muir Island, while Psylocke is transformed into a ninja! The Shadow King makes his play for Storm, culminating in the action-packed introduction of Gambit! Wolverine's hidden past with Captain America and the Black Widow is revealed! And this is just the first volume! It's a classic for a reason people - and a must for every comic book fan's bookshelf.BUY IT: for lb63.65 from Forbidden Planet.
MOST WANTED EXTRA-SPECIAL TREAT: MINIMALIST COMIC BOOK PRINTSWe're forever on the look out for goodies for GGSF HQ and these gorgeous minimalist prints from Macedonia-based designer and illustrator Marko Manev (he's even got a cool name!) fit the bill perfectly. Based on Marvel's major superheroes, the designs might be graphically simple, but there's no denying that each manages to perfectly convey the character's he's decided to portray. Our particular favourites are Spidey, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Captain America - but we'd love to plaster our walls with the entire collection. BUY IT: for lb11.59(ish) each from Society6
MOST WANTED THING IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT: A REAL-LIFE TRON LIGHTCYCLE
Yep, you read that right people. The iconic Lightcycles from Tron have been recreated in real life. And we want one. The space-age bike is a beast at 8ft long, 23-inches wide and 474lbs but we reckon we could handle the motor, which can achieve speeds of 120 miles per hour. Sadly, only five of the machines are being produced by Florida-based Parker Brothers Choppers - and we don't think we could get a loan for the whopping price tag. But wouldn't it be fun to ride around London town on this baby? BUY IT: for lb33,000 from Parker Brothers Custom Choppers
